Hands That Love Turning Dreams To Reality in Jamaica
July 9, 2017
by Danielle Green, Founder of Hands That Love
It was always a lifelong dream of mine to establish my own non-profit organization because I was always committed to giving back to the less fortunate from as far back as I can remember. That was the premise behind founding, Hands That Love, Inc. I would’ve never imagined in my wildest dreams that for the past three years I’ve organized 3 successful fundraisers to provide for the less fortunate in Jamaica. Being of Jamaican descent, it means the world to me to be able to go back year after year to provide for the children in areas that both of my parents grew up. The experience is truly humbling and life-changing!
It is our mission to give back to the youth through community outreach, fundraisers and mission trips. Hands That Love, Inc., aims to make a difference in the unfortunate circumstances that face many children every day and it is our belief that we can transform the lives of all children we come in contact with.
Hands That Love, Inc. has been growing its involvement with underprivileged children in Jamaica over the last 3 years, initially starting with an orphanage located outside of Montego Bay, Jamaica with 20 children, to now raising funds for the upcoming August 2017 trip to Pringle Children’s Home in St. Mary, Jamaica.
We embarked on our first mission trip to Anchovy, Jamaica (just outside of Montego Bay, JA) on August 22, 2014 to visit Garland Hall Memorial Children’s Home. This orphanage cares for 24 students, 8 boys aged 9-14 and 16 girls aged 10-16, with a total capacity for 30 children who have been brought to the orphanage due to neglect, abuse or death of their parents. On August 13, 2016 we were fortunate to visit Priory Infant School (located in St. Ann’s Bay, Jamaica) to donate school supplies to the primary infant students. This was an amazing opportunity because my father attended Priory Infant School as a child. It meant the world to me to donate to the school that my father once attended and to have both my parents there with us as well to participate and interact with the children.
It’s with great excitement that we announce our Summer 2017 trip to the Pringle Children’s Home located in St. Mary, Jamaica (near Ocho Rios). This facility is one of the oldest and one of the safest places for abused and neglected children. This is currently home to 30 boys and girls ranging from ages 8-21.
We are currently raising money to provide all the school supplies for the children that presently reside at Pringle Children’s Home, as well as a pair of shoes for each child for the upcoming school year.
Please visit our website to learn more about Hands That Love, Inc. and to donate to help provide these much needed supplies to an amazing group of boys and girls.
We sincerely thank you in advance!
